That Thin Line Between News and Gossip

Image result for gossips

Who doesn’t like gossips – or some people may call it with the term of “news”? Call it what you like. Whatever. As true as news might be, I still believe that there is always gossip within news. Don’t you agree?

So what makes the difference?

There is this tiny little thing called Fact. Fact is measurable. And fact does not against the Law of Science.

So before you believe what you read or hear, you need to get your fact right. Can it be measured? Can it be proven? Does it against the Law of Science? If the answer is no, then you know that what you read or hear is just gossip. Unless proven otherwise.

It doesn’t mean that all news sucks. It does not. I just want you to be more aware towards the news – or gossip, you read or hear. Don’t take it too seriously. Read it just for fun. For social knowledge when you hang out with this up-to-date society. For ice-breaking topics – if you don’t know how to begin a conversation with the hot chick you like. Just don’t rush believing it.

At the end, let me quote this beautiful verse from the Holy Qur’an,

“O you who have believed, if there comes to you a disobedient one with information, investigate, lest you harm a people out of ignorance and become, over what you have done, regretful”

[Q.S. 49:6]
